1996 Acquired ISO14001 authorization for environmental assurance and harmony with the environment.
1995 Announced the Integrated Register for PC-POS systems. Also developed the smallest, lightest and brightest LCD projector (ELP-3000).
1994 Announced the IT Series of intelligent POS terminals at the RISCON tradeshow.
1992 Acquired authorization for IS09001, the international standard for quality assurance.
1989 Developed ESC/POS, the world's first control command set for POS printers, which has become the command set of choice for POS printers throughout the world.
1988 Developed the first printer manufactured totally by automation.
1984 Co-developed connectivity standards for POS peripherals, resulting in the creation of the OPOS standards committee. Epson became a charter member along with Microsoft, NCR and PSI (later Fujitsu).
1982 Developed the HC-20, the world's first hand-held computer for retail.
